Les Salines,

bearing witness to a unique tradition

Committed to preserving an heritage

Salt has been made in the purest artisanal tradition in Mauritius for over two centuries. This ancient practice is now proudly part of the Mauritian cultural heritage.

The unique climate and environmental conditions present at Les Salines make it an ideal place for this activity.

Our sustainability philosophy

Emphasis on bioclimatic
architecture & Urban planning

Semaris has incorporated the fundamental principles of passive design into the architecture of its villas to minimise their environmental impact. The results of this sustainable design approach will be reflected in the villas’ energy and water efficiency as well as in their carbon emissions, in line with EarthCheck’s best practice methods.

A project undergoing EarthCheck Certification

The project’s urban planners have designed Harmonie Golf & Beach Estate’s roadways organically. The result will be vibrant, shaded roadways with vegetation that ensures the privacy of the villas. The natural drains and surrounding vegetation add character and dynamism to the common walkways, like a peaceful village.

The project, in line with EarthCheck’s best practice methods, places a special emphasis on sustainability as from and throughout the planning and design phase. This will help develop and maintain positive, productive, and sustainable contributions for the villa owners and the existing local community.
